We believe that God establishes authority over each nation

Bullet Daniel 2:20 - "He removes kings and sets others on the throne."
Bullet Proverbs 8:15 - "Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just laws."
Bullet Romans 13:1 - "There is no authority except that which God has established."

We believe in limited government

Bullet Our founders believed that mankind is imperfect. They experienced first-hand the life that resulted from a king who was a sinful human, yet had significant authority and power to impose his flawed will on his subjects.
Bullet As a result, they carefully spelled out the limited powers of the federal government, and reserved all other powers to the individuals and the states.
Bullet They then gave the citizens the ultimate authority with the power to elect representative leadership.
Bullet Government was meant to be a protector, not a provider: to protect citizens from external threats and from each other (theft, fraud or bodily harm), not to provide services for them.

We believe in free enterprise

Bullet Business should be governed by the laws of supply and demand, not restrained by government interference, regulation or subsidy.
Bullet Our founders believed in providing citizens the freedom and safety to design, produce, and deliver products or services based upon consumer or customer demand instead of government edict.

We believe in traditional Judeo-Christian values

Bullet Our government was rooted in Biblical principles and our laws were based on Biblical edicts, such as those outlined in the Ten Commandments.
Bullet God reveals absolute truth through His infallible word.
Bullet All people are created in the image of God and therefore are of innate value whether unborn, elderly or disabled.
Bullet Laws must be put in place to deter people from harming each other (murder, stealing, etc.):
  • The less internal control we have over sin (by the Holy Spirit) the more external control is needed (government laws).
  • "[O]nly a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." *

We believe that citizens are to be good stewards

Bullet A steward is someone who manages the property, finances or household of another.
Bullet According to the Bible we have been commanded and entrusted by God to be good stewards of our families, finances, careers, and faith. Jesus described the importance of stewardship in His parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30). Two of the men in this parable were praised because they diligently used the talents given them to increase their master's wealth. The third steward had his authority taken away for his refusal to do the bare minimum with the money given him.
Bullet The apostle Paul wrote: "It is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful." (1 Corinthians 4:2)
Bullet God has entrusted "we the people" with the responsibility to exercise good stewardship. Citizens in the United States have been entrusted by God to have a fraction of the ultimate authority by virtue of their vote.

We believe that Christians are to be light and salt to a dying world

Bullet In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells His followers they are "the salt of the earth." Salt can be used as a preservative, and as Christians, we can be used to preserve foundational values.
Bullet In the same passage, Jesus also declares those who believe in Him to be "the light of the world." Light is used to illuminate and give direction. Obviously, Christ wants us to be "light" in terms of illuminating the path to eternal life with Him. But He can also use us to show others the way to find or preserve important Biblical values such as the sanctity of life and the sanctity of marriage.
Bullet It requires diligence and effort to make a difference. Salt can lose its saltiness; light can be hidden under a bowl. The third steward was rebuked and punished for burying his talent. As citizens, most of us are similar to that steward; we have buried our vote by not casting informed ballots, and as a result, our voice has ceased to be heard. We no longer have any say over what our children are taught in school. We no longer have authority to protect the life of unborn babies. A country founded upon freedom of religion is rapidly becoming a nation of freedom from religion.
